Save 1,000 Pine Trees in La Trinidad: FIGHT FOR PINE TREES NOW SPREADING.

Save 1,000 Pine Trees in La Trinidad: FIGHT FOR PINE TREES NOW SPREADING..
By Michael A. Bengwayan

The fight to save pine trees is getting much too closer to where I am working to help save pine forest in Longlong, La Trinidad, Benguet. According to Dr. Ben Ladilad of BSU, some 1,000 pine trees are located where a BSU housing project will be erected. This housing project is being run by an association of BSU employees led by an adviser of Dr. Ladilad. The housing project will be set up in Ampassit, about a kilometer away from where I am. The association has now applied for a building permit. How the mayor and the town council will treat the application is of significant concern. Remember, pine trees have been cut in La Trinidad by a realty company and the municipal government of La Trinidad has not acted upon this.

As early as now, may I call on all ATAD members based in La Trinidad. Let us form the people’s committee to head the opposition of this intended tree cutting by the BSU housing assn.

We will have a site inspection on the proposed housing area and do a tree inventory next week. Contact me if you want to be added to the inspecting committee.

Thank you.
